Jeff Amster of Oceanside, New York had a clean sheet – 12 out of 12 correct props – to win Week 2 of the TIF Summer Prop Contest to benefit jockey health-related initiatives. Amster chose to direct a donation of $1,750 to the Permanently Disabled Jockeys Fund.

Amster said: “Thanks to TIF for running this contest. It is certainly a lot of fun and it is very easy to participate. Since I always make a donation during the TVG/PDJF telethon, it would be a great honor to direct a significant contribution to the PDJF.”

While $2,000 was originally pledged for the week, Machmer Hall Farm has generously added an additional $1,000 for the second week of the contest.

Two participants each managed 11 out of 12 props, with the tiebreaker separating the two. Patrick Ray of Vancouver, British Columbia was on the better end of the tie and chose to direct $750 in contributions to the PDJF. Michelle Yu, who will be the guest prop setter on Saturday, August 10, settled for third, directing $500 to Virginia Tech’s Jockey & Equestrian Helmet Study.

One of the original props was counted as an “all” leg after a late scratching of Joevia altered the result of the prop. A second prop had multiple correct answers as the winning margin of the Coaching Club American Oaks and Molly Pitcher came out to the same margin. The distribution of responses from Week 2 props is below.

The top four scores for each participant will yield the overall contest standings, with the top three getting to direct an additional $9,000 in donations. After two weeks, the early contest leaders are as follows:
