The Thoroughbred Idea Foundation’s (TIF) Summer Prop Contest to benefit jockey health initiatives launched last week with 162 players navigating 12 props related to the first Saturday of the Saratoga meet. Donald Wells of Paris, Kentucky was the only player with 10 correct, besting four others who managed eight correct followed by 35 players with seven.

The second week of the contest also welcomes an additional “sponsor contributor” from Sandra Fubini, Carrie and Craig Brogden of Machmer Hall Farm. They will donate $1,000 to be split and directed to the chosen jockey health-related charities of the top three contest finishers on top of the $2,000 already scheduled for donation direction by the week two winners.

“When we saw what TIF was doing, it just made sense to get involved and add more to the already generous contributions,” said Craig Brogden. “Racing needs to offer customers new ways to approach our sport, and the awareness they are raising to bring attention to the potential for fixed-odds betting on racing is engaging. Doing so while also benefitting advanced research and care for jockeys and exercise riders makes it even better.”

When the contest was first launched, TIF announced a total of $25,000 would be donated by the end of the eight weeks. Machmer Hall’s involvement, and that of other donors already arranged to join the initiative, will likely push the total contributed in excess of $30,000.

Props for the second week of the contest were set by Britney Eurton of TVG and NBC Sports, and Eurton’s focus is split between big races at Monmouth, Saratoga and Del Mar.  Contestants have until 1:00 P.M. Eastern on Saturday to enter via this link:
