The fourth week of the Thoroughbred Idea Foundation’s Summer Prop Contest features the props of professional horseplayer Paul Matties Jr. A winner of the National Horseplayers’ Championship in 2016, Matties is based outside Saratoga Springs, New York and considers the summer scene there as home. Hence, Saturday’s Whitney card at the Spa will be the focus for the contest.

Donations this week will be topped-up by Select Sales Agency, contributing an additional $1,000 distributed across the winners’ designated charities.

“It is great to see more awareness come to the possibilities of fixed-odds betting on racing in this country,” said Andrew Cary of Select Sales. “It is clear that we need to modernize and innovate as it directly impacts the financial future of our industry and I’m hopeful we will soon experience a reality where these offerings are part of the standard racing experience.”

Connor LeClair of Cohoes, New York took the third week of the contest with a winning tiebreaker after correctly selecting 11 of 12 props. Jeffrey Amster of Oceanside, New York leads with the best overall score through three weeks. Players can participate in all eight weeks, or just select weeks, but the best four scores accumulated will count towards the overall standings.

New and existing players can enter the contest here.
